Mugshot - Family & Friends

4 x 4 oil on panel
NFS

It is so much harder to paint a family member. I'm trying to hard to get the likeness.
The cool areas of the face photographed much grayer than they are in person. I'll try to retake the photo tomorrow.

I've made a few tweaks and updated the image. It's better I think but I might have over-worked it now.

  1. Wonderful, Cathy! This is a great mug shot, but more so it is a very warm and intimate and loving portrait.

  2. i know her! I think you got her likeness real well. The greys do look a bit off but the facial expression is definitely her.

  5. Cathy this is wonderful! I like the grey tones - it gives it a dreamy quality like a Chris Van Alsburg illustration. This is a beautiful, expressive portrait!
