This is my first submission to Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days". I don't really have a theme, though I think that would have been a good idea. I might develop one as I go along. I just wanted to commit to painting more often. My goal this year is to paint larger. This doesn't lend itself well with this particular challenge. So I'll probably have some larger pieces going at the same time. (hopefully).
This painting was fun to do. I always like to do pets. But I don't think I got a great likeness of the subject this time. Just like a human portrait, a fraction of an inch off and you loose the likeness. His snout might be too wide, or narrow, or too long. Or maybe I put his eyes too high. I like it anyway. Maybe I should have called it "Viridian Nose" because that is my favorite spot!
Be sure to check out the other submissions to Day 1 of this challenge.

it might not look exactly like Norbu but it definitely looks like someone's dog. it needs more drool to be Norbu! =)
ReplyDeletehaha, true! I didn't really want to paint the drool. That must be what is missing.
DeleteGreat start on the challenge! I like this dog - wrong snout or not! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda!
DeleteI don't know if it's a likeness, but I do know dogs, and I KNOW you captured that "please give me a treat" look!
ReplyDeleteHe is laying on the charm!
