Day 4 of "30 Paintings in 30 Days" and I've chosen something I don't paint often. I would like to paint more flowers. So I'm going to try to add a few during the month. This resource was from a June day I spent at a garden center not far from here.

I can't believe how many people have joined this challenge. Over 250 at last count. I'm a little disappointed that there is just not enough time to visit all the artists sites and it will be so easy to be lost in the crowd. So I'm going to try to hit a few each day and keep my focus on what I need need to paint next. Painting larger is still on my list of goals for this year. So some of these small studies might show up again in a larger format.

I might miss a day or two here because I've gotten sick. Just a bad cold, but I've never painted when sick before so I'm not sure what will come of it.

  1. oooh i like this one a lot. I colors in the terra cotta are great. And I like the brush strokes in the plants. It's good to branch out and try new things. Who knows maybe painting sick will create a master piece.

  2. Hi Cathy, this is really nice and I love your Farmers Market painting below this.
I agree with you about not having enough time to visit all the artists sites. I spend some time every evening and hope I'll eventually get to "meet" everyone.
Hope your cold doesn't last long!

  4. VERY nice! The colors of clay are fantastic and a wonderful subject on this cold day.

I'm trying to visit as many as I can, too! That is a challenge in itself, but a very pleasurable one. Everyone is doing just wonderful work and such fun to see.

Hope your cold is better SOON! I'm getting one myself and am hoping it is short.

  5. Cathy, I can see you are going to be one of my inspirations for painting shadow and light! I love how you did these pots and flowers, and how brave of you to take on a subject you aren't used to. I hope you feel better soon. I started this challenge with a cold (got sick New Year's Eve) but, to encourage you, mine went away quickly. I painted through the cold. When I got better and had to go back to work is when I got behind on the challenge!
