Das Bier

6 x 12 oil on panel

This is one of the paintings I've been working on from the Das Bier 5 k run a few weeks ago. This was connected to their Octoberfest celebrations. It was such a bright sunny day I have a lot of shadows to play with. I especially thought this group of runners made some wonderful shadow shapes!

  1. Cool format and shadows. Love how colorful too! So much more interesting how you cropped a couple of the heads out.
Noticed that Karin J is coming to Chicago. would love to do it but do not think I can shell out the bucks again. What a great place to have a workshop. In the back of my mind. I could stay with my son. Are you going to do it?

    1. Carol, Karin J is coming to Chicago!! So very excited about it but I'm still trying to work out the finances. I really expect to do it because who knows when it will happen again. You should come too! I would finally get to meet you in person. I'm pretty sure there will be other past KJ students there that you know. Give it serious thought!
Thank you for your comment. I'm trying to paint a larger more often.

  2. Cathy I love this!! Especially the kid in the middle with the wonderful, natural, kid-style of running with abandonment. And those shadows are great - they totally look like petroglyphs!

    1. Thanks Terri! I know what you mean, the middle kid was the perfect subject. I almost cropped him close, but wanted to do something larger.
