I'm not getting much painting done today. I'm going to be babysitting all weekend, so today I'm trying to get some other things done before the kids come tomorrow morning. I did find time to do some varnishing (above). And photograph a few of my "in-progress" paintings (below).
It's been my experience that you don't even have to supply young boys with sword-like objects for them to find something with which to pretend with. But when armed with a lightsaber, fire sword and a couple shields, what you get is hours of pretense and action play.
I got back from Florida and finished up this sweet painting this last weekend. I haven't painted a lot of horses and I discovered how fun they are to paint! No wonder they are such a popular subject matter. And this little girl, with her spongebob boots, was the perfect addition!
Turns out last week was Spring Break in Florida! I was able to sneak away to the beach a couple times and got some great photos! I plan to get started on a few beach scenes today. I can't wait!
We are taking a quick trip to Florida to visit Joe's mom who has been sick. Someone said the other day that they missed my figure paintings! Well, I guess that was all I needed to get busy sorting through some old photos. I have always intended to paint this one. It still needs a some work along with a background. But I'm leaving this one 'in progress' until I return.
I've been having some fun with abstraction in the backgrounds of a few of my bird paintings, and this is one of them. I've been holding off posting these because they are so different that what I normally do. I do love the bright color palette I've been using. I've been experimenting with many new things lately.
