I took a break from working on a larger 'soccer' painting for another small beach scene. Still one of my favorite subjects! I just can't get enough of these colors!

The Relay

My first attempt at some fabric patterns! I've always been too scared to try. But it's something I want to get better at.

The Big Kick

I have all these great reference photos of kids playing soccer. And I'm in love with the subject. So now I'm trying to translate that into paintings and still capture the light and movement which is what I originally loved.

So this painting captures a great action moment, and I think I've gotten close to what I'm trying to achieve. I'll be working on the values a bit more and adding a few other figures to a larger piece.

Soccer Girl

Summer soccer games! I love the colors and action. This painting doesn't show a lot of action, but I have more coming! Here, I think she is getting ready to make a move! I might need to do some a bit larger.

On a side note, I'm having a hard time taking photos of these last few paintings. I can't tell you how many I took before I settled on this being the closest. I'll keep trying.

Spring Bloom Fine Arts Festival

I will be one of the 70 artists at the Spring Bloom Fine Arts Festival on March 12. The 2016 show will be held at the Brown Ball Room, Bone Student Center, Illinois State University. This is my first time doing this show. But I did attend last year to assist my daughter, Amy McGovern, with her booth. I thought it was a great little art festival and I'm really looking forward to this being my first show of the season. My daughter will be showing there again too.
