I've been busy babysitting this week and haven't been able to get into the studio. I have a lot to catch up on when I finally get back in there! I painted this young fellow last week. I loved his simplicity.
I joined the IAL this year and entered 2 paintings in my first show with them. I'm so pleased to tell everyone that my painting "Treasure Hunt" won first place in the semi-professional, not under glass category! I'm thrilled and honored to be among some really great artists.
You can view all the paintings until July 30 at the Peoria Public Library, main branch which is downtown Peoria on the corner of Main and Monroe.
I really loved this painting because of the distinct dark path that runs through it. Love the shapes. I think it could be even better larger. I made his face a bit darker than it was because I didn't want people to notice his face. It's all about his hand and shadow. I plan to try this one again.
I finished up this larger version of "Splash Landing" last week. I love the glow of reflected light under his arms! It was so fun to try to capture the movement!
I spent the weekend in Uptown Normal IL, at the Sugar Creek Arts Festival this last weekend. Wow! This is the largest show I've ever been a part of. Weather and crowds were good both days but for me, Saturday started out pretty slow. But on Sunday things picked up quite a bit and I sold quite a few pieces. I love getting new homes for my art! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see me. Always fun to talk for a few minutes.
Now I start the mad rush to get my latest work ready for my next art festival which is this coming weekend. The Sugar Creek Art Festival should be a fun time for everyone! I have more information about the show on my website. I'm hoping to see some of you there!
